Students at SMFA at Tufts live and take classes at our Fenway campus, finding their way as artists by exploring an idea through various areas of study. These include but are not limited to painting, sculpture, video, performance, and photography. The SMFA at Tufts offers both a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Interdisciplinary Art and a 5-year Combined Degree BFA + BA/BS Program. Since this merger, all of our students have greater access to the classes, resources, and facilities on both campuses, and our students and faculty have entered a new era of increased collaboration across disciplines within the thriving culture of both campuses.
The SMFA at Tufts' Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program was designed by artists, for artists and offers one of the most innovative approaches to arts education in the world - allowing you to combine an in-depth, rigorous liberal arts education with intensive studio arts training. The interdisciplinary studio curriculum is entirely elective – you define, shape, and build your own path of study. The SMFA at Tufts will push you to take risks and to work in media you've never tried before. The faculty, all practicing artists, will guide you in developing your own voice and your own point of view. Due in large part to this unique educational and artistic approach, our graduates go on to define new directions in the arts. Many are pioneers in their field, while others create entirely new fields. The education you will receive here also prepares you for the ever–evolving world after graduation—one with an increasing demand for strategic thinkers, technical skills, and conceptual understanding.
The MFA in SMFA at Tuftslol官网竞猜
The SMFA at Tufts is one of only two art schools in the United States affiliated with a major museum. Located right next door, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) has nearly 450,000 works of art ranging from antiquity to the present day. Students at the SMFA at Tufts have access to the Museum's collections and exhibitions, as well as the Morse Study Room where works on paper not currently on view can be examined up close. Our students also benefit from relationships with the Museum's curatorial and conservation staff as well as opportunities to intern, assist with installations, collaborate with visiting artists, and show their work at the MFA. Students of the SMFA at Tufts are educated through in-person exposure to the history of art, and the professional networks that make up today’s art world.
